Who is married to the 1911A1?

Jeff Cooper helped pioneer the 10mm yet he claimed that the 1911 in 45 acp was "the best combat handgun known" until his death. I know its not the popular opinion among die hard gun cranks but I love my Colt. Pretty much into any standard out of the box shooter. I'm not too big on customization as I feel that all of them work if you shoot them enough. What's your favorite?
