Do you think texting lingo is abused?

Before texting became huge, I was pissed off by the lingo change. I can't text without making a complete, correctly spelled sentence. If I decide to laugh, it has to be a hearty "haha!" and only when extremely necessary. As a writer, I am appalled by our nation's linguistic downfall.
